PERU – The city of Peru is partnering with a rural-focused mental health care provider to receive around-the-clock support for at-risk individuals. Arukah Institute of Healing in Princeton will work with law enforcement in times of crisis for those battling substance abuse or mental health illness. Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei says the department has already reached out to the institute before in times of need.
Arukah is teamed up with St. Margaret’s professionals, who recently received a $4 million grant that will focus on the intensive outpatient service they wish to provide. Through the initiative, the groups will provide 24/7 crisis intervention, wellness follow-ups, and a facility that law enforcement can bring individuals in such situations.
