ROCKFORD – OSF HealthCare has announced they were made aware of a potential phone scam making use of its caller ID. The callers, claiming to be from the OSF HealthCare, states they are working with the victims physician and Medicare.
If you receive such a call, particularly if you have had no interaction with a department at an OSF HealthCare facility, hang up. If you are concerned the call may be legitimate, they ask that you call the OSF location back using the main switchboard number at that facility. Victims are encouraged to report the potential scam call to their local police department.
