UNDATED – Gas prices continue to fall week by week, but the American Automobile Association says that could change for our nation as demand ticks up and the global price of oil increases. Locally, area county gas prices have dipped 5 cents or more since last week, with LaSalle being the cheapest around at $4.15 per gallon, Bureau to follow at $4.20, and Putnam at $4.23 per gallon. AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross says as the days get longer, the weather gets warmer, and pump prices dip from their record highs, consumers feel more confident about hitting the road, but these lower pump prices could be temporary if the global price of oil increases due to constrained Russian oil with the war in Ukraine. The national average for gas is $4.10 per gallon, and in Illinois, $4.34.
