PERU – Dog owners will now be allowed to bring their furry friends to Baker Park in Peru. On Monday the Peru City Council elected to change its existing ordinance on animals in parks. Leashed dogs only will be able to walk the Baker Lake path accompanied by their owners. The former ordinance banned dogs from all city parks except the Wiggly Field Dog Park at Veteran’s Memorial Park. Mayor Ken Kolowski says it’s a gift that he hopes doesn’t get abused.
New signage is expected to be posted at Baker Park.
