MENDOTA – A Mendota man was taken to a Rockford Hospital via helicopter after a two vehicle crash on Saturday. Around 12:30 PM Mendota Fire and EMS were called to the intersection of 8th Avenue and 2nd Street. A northbound vehicle driven by 56-year old Salvador Tinajero collided with a vehicle driven by a 21-year old Mendota man. Tinajero was transported to St. Anthony’s in Rockford and admitted to the critical care unit. The crash is still under investigation by the Mendota Police Department.
