OTTAWA – The city of Ottawa is eliminating impact fees to spur residential development. At Tuesday night’s council meeting an impact fee pilot program was approved of that would eliminate some fees and reduce others to provide a way for new homeowners or developers to get back all or portion of their building permit. According to Public Property Commissioner Tom Ganiere, the pilot program will be active for four years and will be revisited by council in three to asses its effectiveness. The city also approved Tax Increment Financing agreements with the school district, to reduce school impact fees to 75%.
