SPRING VALLEY – Firefighters in Spring Valley got an assistance from police officers in battling a house fire Tuesday. Around 2 PM crews were called to a home near the intersection of 1st and Greenwood St, where Spring Valley Police Officers began battling the blaze with fire extinguishers and got the homeowner and their dog out safely before firefighters could arrive. The Spring Valley Fire Department along with Peru, Ladd and Depue departments quickly tackled the flames and no injuries were reported.
